History~

Residents of Lemont get ready...the much antipated arrival of "Pigs on Parade" is coming soon! In the next few weeks 10 incredibly painted pigs will be on view through out the beautiful and historic town of Lemont. The idea for the pigs was inspired from the success of Chicago's "Cows on Parade". Since its inception in the summer of 1999, cities across the world have offered mulitple art installation works to inspire people to get out and view sequential art within their communities. The Creative Committee for the St.Al/St. Pats Winter Gala "Havana Nights" thought it would be exciting to bring this successful concept to the great town of Lemont.
How did it all begin?
Acme Design, inc. in Elgin helped us to realize our dream. The owner of ACME, Clint Borucki assembled a team of talented sculptors and craftsmen to volunteer for this project. The team headed up by artists Jon Olimb, Dean Millermon, and Kenn Kooi all graduates from the prestigious and historic American Academy of Art in Chicago www.aaart.edu; sculpted, molded and roto cast our custom "one of a kind" pigs. Our unique pigs not only have great style and character but they all embody what we like to call real "pig-a-tude"!

The Painters~
The creative committee selected 9 volunteer painters with extreme technical skill and extraordinary conceptual vision to bring life to all 10 themed pigs...check out their interesting stories and biographies on the "Pigapedia" page on this site.
Where can I view the pigs?
Each pig will makes stops throughout the town of Lemont starting with their arrival at St.Al/St.Pats Grade School for the annual Open House on Sunday, Janaury 30th. All classrooms (PK-8) will "adopt" one of the 10 themed pigs for a week and during this time, the students will share in fun activites and create memorable moments with their adopted pig. Next... its off to visit some of their sponsors and destination points in town... starting at the Lemont Village Hall, Jeffery Lamorte Salon, Bottles, The Front Street Cantina, Three Corners Bar & Grill, and Slammers. All the locations will be showcasing the pigs starting in the month of February.
So get out there and see all the "pigalicious " themes ; Chicago Bears Pig "DA Hamm", Black Hawks "Bobby Hawg", Diva Pig "Miss Barbie Q",White Sox "Sow Swiners", Cubs "Ronnie" tribute to Ron Santo, Swine "Oma" Valley Girl, "Boaris Frankenswine", "Jimmy (Buffet) Boarfet", "Iron Man Pig", and our school mascot pig "Celtic Piglet". Don't be a "boar"...snap a pic of your favorite piggy.... I'm sure you'll "squeal" with delight at their sight!
